On Dec. 10, 2018, the New Braunfels Police Department began an investigation into a report that a 20-year old male was engaging in an ongoing sexual relationship with a 12-year old girl. That investigation led to the Dec. 13th arrest of 20-year old Isaiah Joel Correa of New Braunfels on a charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child (1st degree felony). He was then booked and subsequently released from the Comal County Jail on a bond of $25,000.
On Dec. 30th, 2018, the 12-year old victim went missing from her parents’ residence in New Braunfels for several hours before returning home. NBPD investigators were able to determine that Correa had arranged for her to leave the residence and spent the day with her, actions which violated the Temporary Emergency Protective Order that prohibits him from seeing or contacting the victim. Based on the results of that investigation, Correa was arrested without incident on Dec. 30th for Kidnapping (3rd degree felony) and Violation of a Protective Order (Class A misdemeanor). Bond was set at a combined $253,000 and as of this release he remains in custody at the Comal County Jail.
NBPD Detectives have reason to believe that there may be additional victims of sexual assault and they are encouraging those victims or their families to come forward by contacting Detective Groff at 830-221-4167.
