UPDATE: The New Braunfels Police Department is now seeking tips from the public on the whereabouts of the suspect from Saturday night’s shooting incident at the Motel 6 in New Braunfels. The suspect has been identified as 18-year old Porfirio Navarro of Seguin (see attached driver’s license photo). He is described as an Hispanic male standing 5-feet inches tall and weighing approximately 100-pounds.
Anyone with information about the current whereabouts of Navarro is asked to contact New Braunfels Police or Comal County Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $4,000 for information that leads to an arrest and/or grand jury indictment. ORIGINAL RELEASE: On January 12, 2019 at approximately 10:51pm, officers with the New Braunfels Police Department responded to Motel 6, located in the 1200 block of I-35 North, regarding a hotel clerk with a gunshot wound to the face. The initial investigation indicates the incident began when the hotel clerk became involved in a disturbance with a small group of subjects (non-guests of the hotel). During the altercation a single gunshot was fired from a handgun, striking the clerk in the face.
Upon arrival, officers provided medical aid to the victim, a 32-year old male from New Braunfels, until New Braunfels Fire and EMS arrived on scene and provided advanced treatment. The victim was transported by ambulance to the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), where he underwent treatment for the gunshot wound. At the time of this release the victim is listed in stable condition.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing by the New Braunfels Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
