The search for 18-year old Porfirio Navarro III has ended after he voluntarily turned himself in to authorities in Eagle Pass, Texas, today.
An arrest warrant was issued for Navarro following the January 12th shooting of a New Braunfels hotel clerk, charging him with 2nd Degree Felony Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. In the days that followed, the New Braunfels Police Department and the US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force used a number of different resources, including numerous tips generated through Comal County Crime Stoppers, to track down Navarro in Mexico. With law enforcement closing in, Navarro elected to turn himself in to Texas authorities without incident. He is now in the custody of the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition back to Comal County. Currently, his bond is set at $75,000.
The New Braunfels Police Department would like to commend the efforts of numerous law enforcement agencies that assisted in the search for Navarro, including the US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and the Seguin Police Department. NBPD would also like to extend its thanks to the numerous tipsters that sent in information about Navarro’s potential whereabouts.
