On April 28th, 2019, at approximately 6:20pm, the New Braunfels Police Department was called for a report of a missing 66-year old male from San Antonio who had wandered away from a construction job site near the intersection of South Kowald Lane and FM 1101.
The missing male, who has been diagnosed with a number of medical conditions, did not have a cell phone and did not know anyone in the area. Due to the nature of those medical conditions and the approach of nightfall, a reverse 911 call was initiated which targeted residences within a certain perimeter of the man’s last known whereabouts.
NBPD also used other resources to help look for the man, including K-9, an unmanned aerial vehicle, and a Texas DPS helicopter with thermal sensing cameras. Additionally, patrol officers and several residents of the area drove through the surrounding neighborhoods attempting to find the man, in case he was hidden from aerial view.
At approximately 10:15pm, several members of the man’s family who were assisting in the search located the male walking along Hwy 46 South, towards I-35 North. The male was uninjured and was released back into the custody of his family safe and sound.
The New Braunfels Police Department would like to thank all those that helped in the search, particularly those residents that voluntarily drove the streets of their neighborhood in an effort to help successfully return the man to his family.
