On today’s date (02-17-20), at approximately 7:20am, the New Braunfels Police Department was called to the Sage Apartments in the 2500 block of West San Antonio St. after a male and a female were discovered deceased inside a black Dodge Challenger in the apartment complex parking lot.
Officers arrived on scene and found that both the male and the female had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Detectives with the NBPD Criminal Investigations Division were then called to the scene along with NBPD Crime Scene Technicians to begin the investigation. Justice of the Peace for Pct. 3 Mike Rust was also called to the scene and autopsies were ordered.
The male has since been identified as 34-year old Michael Dewayne Logue of New Braunfels. The female has been identified as 37-year old Desiree Bernarducci of New Braunfels. Next of kin has been notified for both individuals.
Based on the preliminary results of the investigation, this incident is currently considered a Homicide - Suicide. It is believed that the male and the female knew each other and that the male fatally shot the female with a handgun before turning the gun on himself. However, final determinations about the circumstances surrounding their deaths are still pending autopsy results and continued investigation.
