In March 2023 the City of New Braunfels was informed that it had been identified by the Federal Transit Administration as a small urbanized area (UZA). This designation allows the City to become a direct recipient of Federal Transit Funds. This designation allows the City greater flexibility in developing a transit program that meets the needs of residents. Information about this program can be found in the resources below.

The City of New Braunfels benefits from growing mobility options. Our community is served by Alamo Regional Transit on-demand service, as well as the Alamo Commutes trip planning and carpool app. The 2021 New Braunfels Transit Study presents an assessment of future transit options and a foundation for an implementation plan. Alamo Regional Transit (ART) is operated by the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG)

ART next-day pickup service can take you to medical appointments, work, school, shopping, and more.

Fares start at $2 for in-town trips and increase to maximum $12 for out-of-county destinations. Schedule a ride by calling 1-866-889-7433.
