About the Programs

City University 


City University is a free program designed to give participants an up-close look at how city services are provided, with presentations, demonstrations, and tours, including City administration, Police and fire, Public Works, Parks, and Library. Since its inception in 2011, City University has graduated over 415 participants. Many have gone on to serve on various city boards and commissions, including New Braunfels City Council, the Transportation & Traffic Advisory Board, the Bond Advisory Committee, and the Building Standards Commission. 

Youth City University


Youth City University is program for local high school students that will run concurrently with the City’s already-established City University program. The program will give those students an up-close look at how city services are provided, with presentations, demonstrations, and tours, including City administration, Police, Fire, Public Works, Parks, Library, and more. Youth participants will attend each session and provide a remarks about their experience during the graduation ceremony.

City University Requirements


Applicants must be residents of the City of New Braunfels and be at least 17 years old. To receive the full benefits of this program, selected applicants are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions.

Youth City University Requirements


Applicants must be City of New Braunfels residents and be enrolled in 9th through 12th grade at a public, private, or home school.
