The Children's Advocacy Center provides a neutral, child-friendly agency to the community that facilitates a multidisciplinary approach in the prevention, detection, investigation, and treatment of child abuse. Comal ISD is committed to ensuring that all school-aged homeless children are entitled to the same free and appropriate public education that is provided to non-homeless students and are presented with the opportunity to experience success in school. Schools are required to remove barriers to the enrollment, attendance, and academic success of homeless students. Under the No Child Left Behind Act, this program protects children who are living in transitional housing situations and states that any student lacking a fixed, regular or adequate place to live is eligible for this program.

The Westside Community Center will improve lives by providing resources and an inclusive environment for lifelong learning, health, and wellness. They host a variety of free fitness programs, free kids’ programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, a mobile food pantry, cooking programs, craft programs, health screenings, cultural events, and gardening demonstrations in its community garden. Workforce Solutions Alamo is a branch of Texas Workforce Solutions that offers job training and placement for veterans, adults, and adults with disabilities. The mission of the New Braunfels Food Bank (NBFB) is to fight hunger in Southwest Texas through food distribution, programs, education, and advocacy. They can provide nutrition, health, and wellness programs for children, seniors, and pets.

They have a crisis hotline and referral services, as well as substance abuse prevention services. Connections also provides short-term residential services for runaway, abused or neglected, homeless, and at-risk youth, and the Transitional Living Program for youth ages 15-17. Counseling available from youth to adult with sliding scale fees.

24-Hour Crisis Line: 1-800-434-8013 - The Crisis Center of Comal County provides crisis and prevention services to victims of domestic violence (DV) and sexual assault (SA). The agency provides a 24-hour emergency shelter, court accompaniment, case management, counseling, children’s program, and legal advocacy to men, women, and children who are victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
