Overview
The City of New Braunfels has conducted the National community Survey in 2012, 2014, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2024. This survey is developed and provided by National Research Center at Polco, in partnership with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and is the gold standard in community assessments today.
This benchmarking survey provides a comprehensive and accurate picture of livability and resident perspectives about local government services, policies, and management. Hundreds of communities in nearly every U.S. state conduct the NCS. Researchers use scientific survey methods and best practices to guarantee valid findings and put results into meaningful context. Results draw from the largest resident opinion database of its kind, representing well over 30 million Americans.

2026 Upcoming Survey
In January, the City of New Braunfels will conduct the National Community Survey (NCS) for the 7th time. This nationally recognized survey provides a reliable snapshot of resident perspectives on quality of life, City services, and community priorities. The City prioritizes the survey to ensure decisions about budgets, services, and long-term planning are informed by representative, data-driven feedback.
The NCS uses a scientific, random-sample methodology to ensure validity of the results. A total of 4,500 households have been randomly selected to receive a postcard invitation to complete the survey online, followed by a paper survey with a prepaid return envelope. In addition, an online survey will be available to all residents.
Survey Timeline:
- Jan. 19: Postcards mailed to selected households
- Jan. 26: Paper surveys mailed to sampled households
- Feb. 16: Open participation survey opens online
- Mar. 2: Surveys close
Residents are encouraged to participate and share their perspectives, helping shape the future of New Braunfels.
