Requirements

Vehicle for Hire operations must fill out an application and receive a permit before beginning operations. Application packets can be submitted by mail or in person to the City Secretary's Office, and all fees are due when the application is submitted. Be sure the following items are included in your packet:

• Completed Vehicle for Hire Permit Application Form
• Schedule of rates
• Owner's Resume
• Description of proposed insignia and color scheme (Color copy, photo, or rendering) if applicable
• List of drivers and each driver's 3A driving record
• Certificate of Occupancy for terminal 
• Certificate of General Liability Insurance and Commercial Automobile Insurance
  • General Liability: Combined single limit of $500,000.00 per occurrence with an aggregate amount of $1,000,000.00 covering property damage, bodily injury, and personal injury, to secure payment of all lawful and proper claims arising out of the operations of the vehicle for hire service
  • Commercial Automobile: Minimum amounts of $30,000.00 due to bodily injury or death to anyone person in any one accident, $60,000.00 due to such damages or two or more people per accident, and $25,000.00 because of property damage of others in any one accident; and personal injury coverage in the amount of $5,000.00 or the maximum amount available through state assigned risk pool.

You will be emailed a link to schedule a vehicle inspection with the New Braunfels Fire Marshal's Office after submitting a completed application, including fees. If your vehicle does not pass the initial inspection you will have to schedule a re-inspection appointment and submit a $50 re-inspection fee.
