The City of New Braunfels was recently recognized with the Triple Crown Award for FY 2019 from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This organization advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
GFOA’s Triple Crown Award recognizes governments who have received their Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. There are approximately 290 GFOA Triple Crown Award winners in the United States and Canada for FY 2019 and only 23 government entities in Texas were recognized with the award this year. This is the first year the City of New Braunfels has earned the Triple Crown Award.
“The Finance team is very proud to have been awarded the Triple Crown by GFOA,” said Chief Financial Officer Jared Werner. “This award is one outcome of an ongoing effort by the entire Finance Department to increase transparency and provide meaningful resources to our citizenry that illustrate the financial position of this organization. We plan to continue to produce the documents required to be eligible for the award, so hopefully this Triple Crown will be the first of many.”
