On October 26th, 2021, at approximately 10:30pm, officers with the New Braunfels Police Department were called to the intersection of North Live Oak Avenue and West Mill Street for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and found a male holding a handgun while standing in the street next to a Dodge Ram pickup truck. The male, who was uncooperative and belligerent with officers, dropped the weapon but refused further commands by officers to surrender. Less lethal munitions were then deployed, prompting the male to begin cooperating with officers, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Officers discovered an adult female, believed to be the suspect’s girlfriend, deceased in the driver’s seat of the pickup truck having suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. The female has since been identified as 34-year old Kathleen Josephine Johnson of Selma. Next of kin has been notified and an autopsy has been ordered by Justice of the Peace for Pct. 3 Mike Rust.
The suspect, 39-year old Clifton Adam Meneley of Selma, was transported to the Comal County Jail and charged with Murder, a first degree felony. Bond has been set at $250,000 and, as of this release, Meneley remains in custody. This case remains an open and active investigation by the New Braunfels Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
