To ensure the safety of City staff and residents, most City facilities will delay opening until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31. Police and Fire/EMS will continue operations as normal.
City Hall, Parks and Recreation Administration, Municipal Court, the Public Library, the Westside Community Center, Das Rec, the Civic/Convention Center, and the City Municipal Building will open at 10:00 a.m. Solid Waste and Recycling routes will begin as soon as roadways are determined to be safe. The Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs will be closed but the Pro Shop will remain open until 5:00 p.m. The Ethics Commission meeting scheduled for January 31 will be rescheduled to another date.
Public Works staff are currently monitoring roads and are prepared to lay down gravel and de-icing agents on local roads and bridges. Additionally, TxDOT is taking similar precautions on I-35 and other major highways. Should roads begin closing due to icy conditions, residents can find updated local road closure information on the City of New Braunfels website. Drivers are advised to avoid travel, if possible.
City staff will continue to monitor the situation and any additional announcements about City facilities or services will be posted on the City’s website at www.NewBraunfels.gov and the City’s social media accounts including Facebook and Instagram.
