City of New Braunfels Hosting Series of Bond 2023 Community Presentations

2023Bond Informational Meetings

The City of New Braunfels will host a series of community presentations for residents to learn more about the propositions that are part of the upcoming bond election. On May 6th, 2023, residents of New Braunfels will vote on $140,045,000 in city projects by issuing municipal bonds, with no projected increase to the City tax rate. The projects that are part of that bond election have been broken up into three propositions: 

Proposition A – Transportation: Total Cost: $99,330,000

Expected to include eight major transportation projects including Common Street (Loop 337 to FM 306), Barbarosa Road/Saur Lane (FM 1101 to Saengerhalle Road), Conrads Lane (Goodwin Lane to FM 1102), Kohlenberg Road (FM 1101 to IH-35), Citywide Street Improvements to rehabilitate existing city street pavement, curbs, and sidewalks, Citywide Intersection Improvements including new traffic signals and turn lanes, South Kowald Lane (FM 1101 to IH-35), Solms Road (IH-35 to FM 482)

Proposition B - Parks and Recreation: Total Cost: $12,155,000

Mission Hill Park - Phase 2 - Expected to include improvements to existing 10-acre park, including a multi-level observation tower, a canopy walk with access to the observation tower, parking, restrooms, and event space, as well as soft and hard surface trails with trailhead.

Proposition C - Library Facilities: Total Cost: $28,560,000

Southeast Library Branch - Expected to include a 23,250-square foot building, with proposed features like quiet study rooms, meeting rooms, a public plaza, and garden space.

As part of the effort to provide education to residents about these propositions, City of New Braunfels staff will be hosting a series of in-person and virtual community presentations in the coming weeks. Here is the schedule:

  • Wednesday, March 29th - 12pm - Virtual presentation held live on the City of New Braunfels Facebook page
  • Tuesday, April 4th - 4pm - New Braunfels Police Department - 3030 West San Antonio Street
  • Wednesday, April 12th - 9am - Church of the Nazarene - 210 West Klein Road
  • Tuesday, April 18th - 6pm - NBU Service Center - 355 FM 306

These meetings are open to the public and will feature a presentation about the propositions on the ballot as well as a question-and-answer session. 

Early voting for the 2023 Bond is from April 24th through May 2nd with Election Day on Saturday May 6th.
