Later this month, the City of New Braunfels will launch a permitting software improvement that will work with the City’s existing online permitting system. The new electronic plan review (EPR) software will increase efficiency and communication between City staff and those applying for permits and will give users a central hub where they can more easily upload plans and documents.
The EPR software is an online, cloud-based application, so users will be required to create a separate login and password for the EPR site in addition to the login and password already required for the City’s online permit portal. Once an account has been created on the EPR site, users will be able to upload all plans and documents easily and will be able to coordinate online with City staff during the review process.
“Our goal is to use this new software to streamline the review process, increase communication and transparency with residents, and to improve the overall customer experience,” said New Braunfels Building Official K.C. Collins. “The EPR site provides intuitive, step-by-step instructions as well as tutorial videos, and City staff will be providing a number of training opportunities for users throughout the EPR rollout process.”
The new software will be launched in phases, beginning August 28th, 2023, for those applying for commercial building permits and residential new-build permits. The remaining permit types that require plan review as well as plat applications will begin using the new software in the weeks that follow. The Planning and Development Services Department lobby, located at New Braunfels City Hall, will be closed on Wednesday, August 23rd to allow staff an opportunity to receive additional training before the launch of the new EPR software.
Additional information about the electronic plan review software, as well other building permit application resources, is available at www.newbraunfels.gov/buildingpermits. A one-page EPR information flyer is also attached to this release.
