The City of New Braunfels and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) were recently awarded over $34.5 million in construction projects by the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) Transportation Policy Board. A total of six projects in New Braunfels were funded in the agency’s FY 2025-2028 Transportation Improvement Program.
Four of the projects, totaling $12.3 million, were submitted by the City of New Braunfels:

- Citywide Pedestrian Improvements - $1,739,830
- Alves Lane & Brooke Avenue
- Christus Santa Rosa Area

- Citywide Signal Optimization - $450,000
- Solms Road Improvements (FM 482 – IH 35) 2023 Bond Project - $3,221,306
Two other projects, totaling $22.2 million, were submitted by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):
- IH 35 & Solms Road Interchange Improvements - $19,280,565
- SH 46 & Mary Boulevard/Saengerhalle Road Intersection Improvements - $3,000,000
“Receiving this funding allows the City of New Braunfels to expand our capital investments in transportation projects by freeing up bond funds for other projects,” said City Manager Robert Camareno. “City staff will begin to work on identifying which other projects might be feasible and will present those options to City Council for consideration.”
The City of New Braunfels will be working with AAMPO and TxDOT to begin moving forward with these projects, with construction expected between FY 2025 and FY 2028.
