Here is a status update for the City of New Braunfels following recent heavy rains:
River Access (Comal and Guadalupe)
Access to the Comal River for recreation will continue to be closed today (Tuesday, July 8, 2025). While conditions are improving, local rivers are still experiencing increased flow, water clarity issues, and hidden submerged debris. Conditions will be reevaluated on Wednesday morning (July 9) to determine when recreation can resume.
Landa Park Aquatic Complex (LPAC)
The Olympic Pool and Zero Depth Pool will continue normal operations. However, the Springfed Pool in Landa Park will remain closed.
Road Conditions
Currently, only River Road in New Braunfels is closed. Any additional rainfall will likely cause further closures at low water crossings and other low-lying areas. Do not drive around barricades, and never drive through standing or rushing water. TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN. It should be noted that the National Weather Service is forecasting additional thunderstorm activity for the region. Additional rainfall could cause additional flash flooding and those ongoing weather factors will play a role in future decisions made by city officials.
