City Seeks Public Input on Plans for New Braunfels’ Largest Park

Media Releases Posted on October 02, 2025

The City of New Braunfels is inviting residents to take part in shaping the future of what will become the City’s largest public park. In fact, the new as-yet-to-be-named Northwest Park location will be bigger than both Landa Park and Fischer Park combined, and the City is asking residents for their input on those plans.

The open house-style public meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the NBU Service Center. During the meeting, City staff and the park’s design team will introduce master plan concepts and collect feedback from those that attend.

“The input gathered at this open house will play an important role in refining the final master plan for the 145-acre property,” said Transportation and Construction Service Director Garry Ford. “We want to ensure the final master plan reflects the priorities of New Braunfels residents while connecting this growing area of the city to our larger system of parks, trails, and greenways.”

The Northwest Park property, located along FM 1102 south of Conrads Lane, is approximately 145 acres following the purchase of two tracts of land totaling 130 acres by New Braunfels City Council in February of 2024 and combined with 15 acres previously dedicated to the City by the developers of the Arroyo Verde neighborhood. The City’s land purchase was funded by the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation. The parkland is envisioned as a mix of recreational facilities, trails, and conservation areas. Approximately 70 acres of the property is suitable for recreation structures and facilities, while another 50 acres of wooded terrain offers opportunities for natural trails and habitat preservation.

Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting, view the proposed concepts, and share their ideas. Again, the open house-style public meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the NBU Service Center, located at 355 FM 306.

For those unable to attend in person, additional opportunities for feedback will be available online following the open house. For more information about Northwest Park and future updates, visit www.newbraunfels.gov.
