Two life insurance plans are provided to employees by the City, at no cost to the employee: one year's salary through the Texas Municipal Retirement System for full-time and most part-time employees, and a $10,000 Life and AD&D policy through the group health plan provider for full-time employees. Optional additional coverage is available to full-time employees for themselves, spouse, and/or children at a group rate with deductions from each paycheck.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

This optional benefit is available to full-time employees. Employees can choose pre-tax contributions from each paycheck for out-of-pocket medical expenses and/or reimbursement for dependent care. Dependent care covers the cost of care for dependent children under the age 13 who qualify as tax dependents and anyone claimed as a tax dependent because of physical or mental inability to care for himself/herself.

Supplemental Insurance

This optional benefit is available to full-time employees. Available policies include: short term disability income, off-the-job accident, critical illness, life, and hospital plan.
